I don't really care for the trade, as it doesn't make any sense to me, and acquiring picks instead of dishing them off is something I would much rather see, but I guess they didn't feel comfortable enough with either Weircoch/Biega as a 7th.

He can get a 2nd or 3rd near the TDL, those picks matter more.

The first move of Benning's I've liked since, I don't know, Granlund maybe.

Bust for a bust with the Benning pick throw in.

Hopefully Pouliot finally establishes himself but I won't hold my breath.
Downside of this move is that he likely throws Stetcher or Hutton off the PP, both of which probably have untapped offensive potential while being a hell of alot better in their own end.

Decent value but on odd trade.

They will recoup this pick and more when they trade guys at the deadline because they are not in a playoff picture. Pouliot>Pedan and now hopefully Biega will be sent down in the next few days to be the captain of the Comets.

It should be noted that Benning has been linked to Pouliot before Green was hired.

Let's hope his scouting acumen is correct and he just needs some fine tuning.

I feel much better with Pouliot as a 6/7th Dman than Biega, Weircoch or Pedan.

The point that was trying to be made was that losing a 4th now is not the end of the world and if/when the team is out of the playoff race they can recoup picks at the TDL.

I think the Pens were stupid to hold on to him for so long.

Thanks Carol, I have always valued your opinions and analysis of talent over any other poster on these boards.

I certainly didn't think Pedan would ever make the Canucks full time, and we get to see if Pouliot will ever pan out.

Oh and let's not forget that coveted 4th round Benning gave up.

No one seems too excited, but I guess Pedan is so much better because he couldn't crack the 29th worst team in the league.
